Walter Cool
Till this very day, the researchers of Walter Cool of Virginia do not know who his parents were. It was if some alien vehicle dropped him from the skies in about 1824 and deposited him on the Right Fork of Holly River in what is now Webster County WV. Walter appeared out of nowhere with only his clothing and some money in a sack. He soon married Hannah Clifton , daughter of  well known pioneer in the area, John Clifton. Hannah and Walter made their home on 2,000 acres which some  is owned today by descendants. Walter was known as a fair and honest man and was listed as one of the wealthiest men in the county in the census of 1860. His farm was large and with the help of his sons, grew to be quite plentiful. Archibald, John, Jesse and Cornelius Cool must have been very proud of their papa for in 1860 Walter was named first Sheriff of Webster County Virginia. His photograph still hangs in the Webster County Courthouse today.
